## What's new in this version

S3 volumes without object locking have not been supported since version 2.57 and must be migrated. New S3 volumes include support for object locking, as well as improvements in performance and storage requirements.

## Update

How to update your Silent Bricks System:

1. **Ensure that your system is running at least version 2.45**. If in doubt, contact technical support.
2. Download the new version and save the .tar file (do not unzip the file!).
3. Stop all access to the system:  
    a. “Eject” tapes in virtual tape libraries via the management software  
    b. Unmount SNAS volumes in the web interface and take Silent Bricks offline  
    c. Take Silent Brick Compliant Archives offline
4. **Important: Restart the controller(s) (reboot) before starting the update process.**
5. Now install the update (fast-sb-update) via the Service section of the user interface and allow the process to run to completion. The system will restart once the process is complete.  
    **DO NOT RESTART THE SYSTEM MANUALLY!**
6. Log in again and check the version.
