Hardware WORM protects. Software connects.
The Silent Cubes software connects the hardware to your archiving solution, controlling every component, every volume and every access via a web interface. Configuration, monitoring, replication and archiving logs are fully integrated, not just tacked on.

Compliant via hardware
Once written, the data cannot be altered. Neither an administrator nor an attacker can access the data retrospectively.
Audit-proof
- and -compliant, audited by KPMG. Every read and write access event is traceable.
GDPR
The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, EU 2016/679) is the European regulation for the protection of personal data — particularly relevant for IT infrastructure in Art. 5 (principles), Art. 17 (right to erasure), Art. 28 (processors) and Art. 32 (security of processing).
GoBD
The GoBD (Principles for the Proper Management and Storage of Books, Records and Documents in Electronic Form as well as Data Access) is a German Federal Ministry of Finance letter that specifies how tax-relevant documents must be archived electronically in Germany — particularly regarding immutability, completeness and auditability.
A web interface, no CLI
Volumes, shares, users, replication: all in the browser. No CLI, no week-long training course.
Retroactive protection for over 10 years
Migrate data from old to new Silent Cubes with a single click. No migration projects, no data loss.
Connects seamlessly with your world
Over 100 certified integrations for PACS, HIS, RIS, DMS and ECM. Your specialist application writes directly to the archive.
From Europe, without the cloud
Software, support and updates from Germany. Data remains on-site, with no provider risk.
Once written. It can never be changed again.
Silent Cubes seals every file at the hardware level as it is written. From that moment on, any alteration or deletion is systematically prevented. Retention periods, versioning and RW/RO triggers are set for each volume and automatically enforced. In the background, the software continuously checks the integrity of every stored file. Bit errors are detected and reconstructed from the redundancies before they become a backup issue.
What has been archived, can be proven.
The Silent Cubes software automatically generates archiving reports for every volume and retention class. Who wrote what and when, which files have been stored in the system in an unalterable state since which date, and when was the last integrity check carried out: all this information is accessible via the UI and can be exported for auditors and tax inspectors. Silent Cubes have been in productive use in thousands of installations for over 17 years and are certified for audit-proof, -compliant archiving. The KPMG audit report is available on request.

Out with the old Silent Cubes. In with the new ones. Risk-free.
Over the years, archives grow — and with them the number of components. Silent Transfer migrates data from several older Silent Cubes to a larger Silent Cube DS Pro. Launched by right-clicking in the UI, the transfer runs in the background in a certified and traceable manner. The result: fewer components, lower power consumption and reduced maintenance requirements. The retention periods and properties of the archived data remain unchanged.
WORM
WORM (Write Once, Read Many) refers to a storage principle in which data is written once and can technically no longer be altered or deleted — in hardware WORM, this immutability is a physical property of the storage controller, independent of software, operating system or user privileges.
Over 100 applications. One archive.
Healthcare systems (PACS, HIS, RIS), DMS and ECM solutions, and specialised archiving applications are certified to connect with the Silent Cubes. The software provides the appropriate volume types for this purpose — SMB (CIFS) or NFS — with the necessary retention and versioning settings. The requirements of the specialist application are already stored within the volume.

Updates
A hardened system. Not a playground.
The Silent Cubes software runs on a hardened version of Linux that contains only the components necessary for archive operation. No generic server OS, no experimental modules, no open services. Permissions apply exclusively to the UI and the configured shares. There is no privileged console for end users, as it is not required.
The hardware secures the data. Software keeps them available.
An archive is only as good as the software that manages it for ten years or more. Silent Cubes software is designed for long-term operation: it is backwards compatible with existing systems and forwards compatible with new components, with free updates provided throughout the CARE period of up to ten years.
Questions and answers
Over 100 certified Approved Solutions in the fields of PACS, HIS, RIS, DMS, ECM and specialist archiving. Connectivity is provided via SMB (CIFS) or NFS using appropriately configured volume types.
Updates are carried out via the user interface. They are free of charge during the CARE subscription period and include feature and security updates. No data migration is required.
Yes. SNMP, and SNMPv3 since version 3.4.0. Integrates with Checkmk, Zabbix, PRTG, Nagios and other popular solutions.
Silent Transfer migrates data to the new hardware in a certified manner. Retention periods and properties are preserved. No traditional migration project, no data loss.
WORM

Yes. Once the retention period has expired, the system authorises the deletion of the relevant data in a controlled manner. Deletion is systemically prevented prior to this.
As content-addressed storage, Silent Cubes are structured like a blockchain. If the key used to reference the data is lost or deleted, the data can no longer be accessed. The deletion of the keys is scheduled via the internal hardware real-time clock and the set, non-shortened retention periods, and never occurs automatically.
