Silent Cubes • Compliant Archiving • Made in Europe
Silent Cubes. Head Unit. Silent Cube DS.
Hardware WORM
Once written, Silent Cubes use hardware to seal the data, thereby protecting it from tampering or accidental deletion.
12/8 Erasure Coding
Each Silent Cube contains 12 hard drives, which use 12/8 erasure coding to protect against data loss.
Disk Mix
The 12 hard drives in the Silent Cube come from three different production batches to prevent data loss caused by manufacturing defects.
Digital Audit
Every Silent Cube regularly and automatically checks written data for bit errors.
Flexible options
From a few terabytes to several petabytes: Silent Cubes can be expanded at any time, even retrospectively.
Durable & reliable
All components are carefully selected and manufactured to ensure decades of reliable operation with minimal maintenance.
Connectivity & Cache • Made in Germany
Silent Cubes Head Unit (Pro)
Acting as a control centre and cache, the head unit connects to your archiving solution and your network. You can use the Silent Cubes software to configure volumes and shares, retention periods and monitoring. The connection is made via Ethernet.
Applications
Audit-proof archiving • •
Variants
Head Unit: For small archives with 1–2 Silent Cube DS units and up to 32 TB of usable capacity, 1G Ethernet
Head Unit Pro: For growing archives up to the petabyte range, 10G Ethernet
WORM
WORM (Write Once, Read Many) refers to a storage principle in which data is written once and can technically no longer be altered or deleted — in hardware WORM, this immutability is a physical property of the storage controller, independent of software, operating system or user privileges.

Silent Cube DS (Pro)
Once data has been written to the Silent Cube DS (Pro), it is automatically protected against deletion or overwriting by the hardware. No attacker, no administrator, no bot can change this. The 12 hard drives in each Silent Cube DS are linked via 12/8 erasure coding, thereby protecting against data loss due to failure. Up to four drives can fail simultaneously without any data being lost. The Digital Audit is firmly embedded in the device and automatically checks all written data at bit level on a regular basis. To ensure that no data is lost even in the event of a serial fault, each Silent Cube contains 4 hard drives from 3 different production batches.

Questions and answers
Do you need to replace Silent Cubes (cube design) with Silent Cube DS (Pro)?
No. All Silent Cubes can still be used and can be supplemented with new Silent Cube DS (Pro) units when expanding the system.
Can you connect more than one Silent Cube (DS) (Pro) to a Head Unit (Pro)? Can you mix Silent Cubes (DS) and Silent Cubes DS Pro in a single installation?
Yes. If you want to connect more than one Silent Cube (DS) (Pro) to a Head Unit (Pro), you will need a suitable switch.
Can I connect Silent Cubes (DS) to the Head Unit Pro using 1G Ethernet?
Yes, as the Head Unit Pro also has a 1G Ethernet port.
