Silent Cubes

Software Version 3.80

Platform update

  • Build: 3.8.0.7
  • Date: July 2026
Classification: notwendig
Products:
Head Unit H10x0 Pro

What's new in this version

Alongside our own software components, the underlying system packages have been updated as well. A detailed list of the vulnerabilities closed is provided further down this page.

Because Microsoft is retiring basic authentication for SMTP in Office 365, notifications can now be sent using modern OAuth2 authentication.

The update also includes several service improvements that make day-to-day operation and maintenance easier, as well as important fixes in the areas of security and data migration.

Software version 3.2.0.5 or later is required.

Please note: After the update, faulty power supply units (PSUs) that previously went undetected may now be reported correctly as faulty (see DEVSC-122). This is an expected result of the fix, not a new fault.

Features

  • DEVSC-77

System packages updated, including the kernel (6.12.58) and Samba (4.22.5)

  • DEVSC-249

    Samba updated to version 4.22.5

  • DEVSC-10

Notifications can now be sent via Office 365 using OAuth2 (required because Microsoft is discontinuing basic authentication for SMTP)

Improvements

  • DEVSC-104

When a COP is replaced, the service tool checks the serial number entered against the serial number on the drives, preventing incorrect entries.

  • DEVSC-93

The option to send notifications to FAST LTA via HTTP has been removed (replaced by OAuth2).

  • DEVSC-83

New button in the Service area of the web UI for downloading a non-obfuscated system bundle.

  • DEVSC-50

A dedicated message is shown when a storage unit migration is started from the web UI.

  • DEVSC-53

Power Supply status (OK/Faulty) is now displayed for each Silent Cube unit, including a warning icon.

  • DEVSC-55

Increased tolerance for time differences between the head unit and the cubes (now 5 minutes for both known and new cubes).

  • DEVSC-57

Improved recovery after migration errors: larger elements that are intact are no longer blocked by faulty smaller ones.

Bug Fixes

  • DEVSC-228

Security-related: The outdated RC4 and DES encryption methods are no longer used for Active Directory integration.

  • DEVSC-275

Reserved Samba configuration terms (such as "global") can no longer be used as share names.

  • DEVSC-161

Files deleted via Smart Delete while a migration is running are now migrated correctly.

  • DEVSC-122

Faulty power supply units (PSUs) in generation 3.x systems are reported correctly again.

  • DEVSC-22

Fixed an incorrect SSH tunnel status in the cluster system bundle.

  • Security vulnerabilities closed (CVEs)

Updating the system packages (see DEVSC-77) closes numerous publicly known vulnerabilities in OpenSSH, OpenSSL and Samba. This is why the update is classified as mandatory and should be installed promptly.

Update

  1. Please ensure that your system is running at least version 3.0.0.6. If in doubt, please contact technical support.
  2. Download the new version and save the .tar file (do not unzip the file!).
  3. Stop all access to the system.
  4. Now install the update (fast-update...) via the Service section of the user interface and allow the process to run to completion. After approx. 15 minutes, a pop-up window will prompt you to restart the system. Confirm the dialogue.
  5. Log in again and check the version.
