Protect Your Backups.
Backups are the recommended choice to protect against the consequences of cyber attacks such as ransomware. Nevertheless, it is now no longer sufficient to rely solely on a proven backup strategy based on the 3-2-1 approach. According to a study published by Veeam, over 90% of cyber attacks now target backups. Almost 70% of these attacks are successful, i.e. they succeed in encrypting backups in whole or in part and thus rendering them unusable. Object Locking
Even after offloading to S3 object stores, backups are vulnerable. Backups on object stores must therefore be protected against manipulation for a certain period of time - the retention.
